Debbie Kwiatowski

Managing Editor, Hudson Valley Business Journal

A working journalist, editor and publisher for nearly thirty years, Debbie has worked for such regional publications as the Daily Freeman, The Huguenot Herald (Now known as the New Paltz Times),and The Southern Ulster Times, as well the Hudson Valley Business Journal. Debbie was also the founder/publisher of In Focus, another regional business magazine, which debuted in 2001 and was published until 2006.

Debbie began writing for the Hudson Valley Business Journal in the late 1980s, and has been running the business weekly for the past two years. Her freelance work includes articles in places like Hudson Valley Magazine, Kaatskill Life, Suite101.com (an online magazine) and other syndicated content websites, as well as various inflight publications for the airline industry.

At times, Debbie also does public relations, public affairs and community education work for a variety of (mostly) non-profit organizations. These have included the Ulster County Health Department; the Hudson Valley Chapter of the March of Dimes; the New Paltz Development Corporation; The Village of New Paltz; and the Highland Rotary (where she was the PR contact/strategist for the first two years of its signature event, The Hudson Valley Ribfest).

Currently, Debbie also writes and records the daily Business Briefs for the Hudson Valley Network (PAMAL Broadcasting at AM 920, AM 1260 and AM 1420). The Hudson Valley Business Journal is also partnering on a weekly radio show that will debut sometime in the spring, with a regional business focus.

Debbie has a long history of both “pitching” story/project ideas to editors and in “fielding” pitches from others and deciding what to publish.
