John Bassler

Know/Go NPD LLC

In May 2006 Dr. Bassler retired from his position as Director of the Master of Science Program in Marketing Research (MSMR) at The University of Texas at Arlington to launch Know/Go NPD LLC with Jim Kindley. Know/Go uses a proven 7-factor new-product success model to help product developers identify potential winners and reject likely losers among their ideas, dramatically improving their odds of success.

In addition to helping manage Know/Go, Dr. Bassler teaches marketing at SUNY New Paltz and is an associate of The Business Institute there. His pro bono activities include membership on the Economic Development Committee for the Town of Saugerties, NY, and marketing advisor to start-up clients of the Business Incubator at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Dr. Bassler served as MSMR director at UT Arlington for six years. In addition to guiding this graduate program he taught a variety of marketing courses, including marketing research and marketing strategy. Most of his previous career was in marketing research and statistical consulting, either independently or with small consulting groups. He served as president of the D/FW chapter of the American Marketing Association in 1994-5, and taught statistics at SMU and North Texas State University. He also worked as a program manager in the corporate customer satisfaction group at Compaq Computer Corp. From 1970 to 1979 he taught at the business schools at Dartmouth, Yale, and The University of British Columbia.

Dr. Bassler earned a B.A. in Mathematics from Rice University in 1965, an MBA from Stanford in 1967, and a Ph.D. in Industrial Administration from Carnegie-Mellon University in 1972.
