Kendal Henry

City of Newburgh, NY

Kendal Henry the Director of Culture and Economic Development for the City of Newburgh, NY. He's also a public art and urban design consultant, artist and curator living in New York City and works on a variety of public art projects and programs in the US, Europe, Russia, Asia, Central Asia and Australia. Kendal has served as a Manager of Arts Programs at the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) Arts for Transit for eleven years. During that time, he has overseen the fabrication and installation of their permanent art projects, produced temporary exhibitions at Grand Central Terminal, and produced the MTA's award-winning poster program. Previous to his experience at the MTA, he served as a project manager at the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs' Percent for Art Program for four years. In his eighteen-year career as a public art administrator, he has commissioned over 150 permanent and temporary works of art.

Kendal serves as a member of the Public Art Network (PAN) Council. The PAN Council is an elected advisory body to Americans for the Arts and assists in developing policies, programs and resources to promote knowledge and understanding of the broad field of public art. He is also the Chief Curator at the Museum of Contemporary African Diaspora Arts (MoCADA) in Brooklyn
