This year I was not at the top of my game, thank goodness my presentation was first thing in the morning! However, in spite of not feeling well I got terrific information at all of my sessions, and stayed in the bar for networking until after 8pm!

As usual, I think we did a wonderful job & more people were in the bar, reluctant to leave, than ever before. We were really doing some very powerful networking in addition to getting incredibly valuable information in the workshops. Add to that being in an immersive environment with clients, referral partners, potential clients and a bunch of people I had never met before, and we had a formula that guarantees everyone would walk out with much more than just a stack of business cards.

It was refreshing to see, and be a part of, a conference that enabled small business owners gain important information and take away new concepts on how to approach professional as well as personal relationships with business clients and employees.

Attending the seminars, I learned how to prioritize my business responsibilities and utilize business colleagues as a resource when I need assistance in developing new and fresh ideas. And, also being equally supportive when offering my advice to help business colleagues.

Where else can you spend a full day of networking with other small business owners, have a choice of attending up to 5 workshops (out of 20), and be fed in the process? If it wasn't for Melanie Richards telling me at a Jack Sims presentation about this conference, I never would have found such a satisfying professional place. The presentations were all terrific ; there is learning on every level whatever phase your business is in.

Melanie always gives more value than what people think a good value is; she must been a saint in another life as she presents the good side of each person she interacts with.

John with the branding hour with his calm disciplined voice and mannerisms brings you into a time of deep emotional commitment of what a brand really is; the styles of Jack Sims and John are entirely different but John is the more pensive, caring individual who also knows what powerful things he can do.

I was sorry the sessions ended but could not stay beyond that as I was inundated with rush insurance items that had to get done; I started my day when I left. My clients are close to me and their work take priority.

There was serious teamwork for this event that's for sure.

Connections, corrections, creations: the 2009 HVBE conference was a great success for me with a great ROI.

I made many connections I would not have made without this conference and reconnected with others. Remember that generally, people have to hear about your business multiple times before they buy. I gained a lot of touch-points in one day.

I made corrections to my personal introduction based on the "
Get your Elevator Pitch right" presentation that will be worth much more than the price of the conference over the next year.

Creations. I created a plan for my website during the presentation on "Promoting your website." It saved me lots of time and money by walking me through the process. And get this, I got a $45 dollar gift certificate too! Half the price of the conference! That one session would have paid for the conference.

At another session I learned how to find and structure alliances, highly relevant because I am currently forming one. And this session had a $50 of voucher I will use for further coaching.

I wish I could have attended all 20 sessions.

My ROI = 1.0 and the payback 1 day! I got vouchers I will use equal to the price of the conference.

Looking out a year I can see the ROI being 20 with no problem. Not a bad investment. And I met nice people and had fun.
